Reverend John Wesley McVicker, Sr., is a native of Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He earned his Bachelor of Ministry Degree in theological studies from the Milwaukee Theological Institute. Pastor McVicker also received his Bachelor of Arts and Master of Theology Degrees from Lakeland College in Sheboygan, Wisconsin.
He has been preaching and teaching the Word of God since October 1975. In 1985 with 40 worshippers, Pastor McVicker founded Christ The King Baptist Church. Currently, over 2,000 members attend the church where the “table is spread and the feast of the Lord is going on.” As God continues to bless Pastor McVicker and his church, under his visionary leadership, a new edifice was built in 1997, and in 2005 the Quality of Life Center which houses King’s Academy Christian School was built.
Pastor McVicker currently serves in the following capacities in the community: Board member of Partners for the Advancement of Education (PAVE), School Choice of Wisconsin, Clergy for Educational Options, and Finance Chair for the Board of Directors of CEO Leadership Academy. He also serves as Associate Chaplain for the Milwaukee County Sheriff's Department.
As founding pastor of Christ The King Baptist Church, Pastor McVicker is committed to the cultivation of Christian growth within his congregation and throughout the community. He is also committed to providing support to community efforts to make available programs and services to enhance the quality of life for people living in the Milwaukee area.
He is married to the former Marilynn Johnson. They have two children, Kasia and John, Jr.
