Mrs. Marilynn McVicker

Motivated by her deep love for Christ, Marilynn McVicker has served in ministry continuously since the inception of Christ the King Baptist Church.  Marilynn believes that one should serve in any position “as unto the Lord.”  

 

She has served at Christ the King in many capacities over the past 37 years: Sunday school teacher, member and choir director of the Inspirational, Cherub and Gospel Choirs, a member of the Praise Team, and Charter Organization Representative for Boy Scout Troop 7750.  Marilynn also served on staff as the Director of Youth Services for over 20 years.  A former Educator in the Milwaukee Public Schools, she organized King’s Academy Christian School where she was Administrator. The Marilynn McVicker Scholarship Fund was named in her honor because of her passion and love for children and their education.

Since Marilynn’s primary goal is to fulfill God’s purpose in her life, she makes an effort to be educated in the Word of God.  Thus, she attends Bible classes, Christian education classes, and leadership development conferences at Christ the King Church. She has also attended the Southern Baptist Black Church Leadership Conference in New Mexico. Marilynn received Unit Certificates in the areas of Christian Education, Leadership and Counseling from Tony Evans’ Urban Alternative in Dallas, Texas.
 

Marilynn’s educational accomplishments are as follows:  Bachelor of Arts Degree and a Master of Education Degree from Cardinal Stritch University.  Marilynn is also a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Incorporated. She is the wife of the founding pastor, Reverend John W. McVicker, Sr.
