Rev. John W. McVicker, Sr.

Under Pastor John W. McVicker's leadership since 1985, Christ the King Baptist Church has grown from a church of 39 members to one of over

​​

Under his leadership, Christ The King built a new edifice in 1997; organized King’s Academy Christian School in 1998; and built a Quality of Life Center in 2005.  In addition, Reverend McVicker organized Christ The King’s affiliates: Samaritan Project, Inc., CTK Development Inc., CTK Housing Development, and CTK CU (Credit Union), that provide programs and services to its members and the Milwaukee community-at-large.

Reverend McVicker holds a Bachelor of Ministry Degree in theological studies from the Milwaukee Theological Institute; Bachelor of Arts and Master of Theology Degrees from Lakeland College, Sheboygan, Wisconsin; studied at Wycliffe Hall School of Preaching - University of Oxford, Oxford, England, United Kingdom; and in April 2018, he was inducted into the Morehouse College Martin Luther King, Jr. International College of Ministers and Laity.

 

Reverend John Wesley McVicker, Sr. is a native of Milwaukee, Wisconsin and is married to the former Marilynn Johnson. They have three children:  Shaleace, Kasia and John, Jr.; and five grandchildren, John III, Kai, Kennedy, Khloe and Carter.

  • What happens when I attend CTK for the first time?
    Upon arriving at CTK, our Hospitality team will greet you at the entrance and guide you to your seat. You don't have to worry about getting lost or missing out on anything as our team will assist you throughout your experience. We are excited to have you with us!
  • What do I wear to church service?
    The Bible teaches that you should come just as you are! When you attend CTK in person, you will notice that everyone has their own style, ranging from casual to professional. We strongly believe that what you look like or wear is not important in church; what matters is who you really are on the inside. Therefore, please feel free to come to our church just as you are.
  • How long are your church services?
    Our church services last approximately one hour.
  • Where do I park when I arrive?
    CTK offers a conveniently located parking lot directly behind the church.
  • How accessible is CTK?
    CTK is blessed with parking and facilities that cater to our guests' needs. All entrances are equipped with ramps, ensuring easy accessibility for everyone. Our ushers and hospitality team are dedicated to providing you with assistance and support throughout your visit.
  • How do I get more involved?
    If you’d like to be more involved, that’s great! A perfect place to start is by visiting our volunteer page or seeing our hospitality team in the Narthex. There are numerous opportunities to serve! There’s always something going on, and there’s always something to do.
